People Helping People
Helping Others to Succeed Inc. (HOTS) is approved by the State of Connecticut to provide a broad array of services to persons with acquired brain injuries and other co-occurring disabilities that limits independence. The services provided are intended to assist the person served in living a more productive life in the community than they would have been afforded to reside in a skilled nursing facility. Person-centered services are the result of a team process that identifies goals, interests, preferences, needs and resources that fosters independence. The team consists of the person served, a cognitive behaviorist, social worker, family members, and community nursing services as well as representatives from Helping Others to Succeed Inc. Once the service plan is in place, Helping Others to Succeed Inc. works with the individual and other team members to achieve the established goals. Highly individualized services are designed to provide assistance with securing housing, in home supports, employment assistance, continuing education, vocational skill building and case management.
Professionals and paraprofessionals that have completed an array of ABI training program carry out the service plan. When an ILST or RA is part of the service plan, staff must also be ILST / RA certified. HOTS coordinator ABI Services conducts regular staff training activities to ensure staff stays up to date on the latest ABI strategies and information, both in a group setting and individually with staff and consumers.
